Customer Spotlight: Barstow Towing

You always hope you won't need to be towed, but sometimes it happens, and when it does, Danny and Addie provide just the kind of service you hope for: responsive, communicative, and dedicated to total satisfaction - as their 5-star rating on Yelp attests!

Recently we sat down with Addie to learn more about the business - including some very surprising facts.

Tell us a little about your history. How did you get into towing?

Danny and I both worked at Barstow Towingfor Leonard and Paulette Purdy. Danny started as a driver and learned every detail that goes with the work. Before too long his hard work earned him an opportunity to be a manager. Meanwhile, I was working the phone as a dispatcher.

Having proved that we knew this profession on the road and in the office, Leonard and Paulette approached us about buying the company from them. The company is now over 25 years old, so it was important to them to find someone who would love it as much as they had.

Is there anything about towing that surprises people when they realize it?

I think one thing people don't realize is that towing can be a dangerous profession. In fact, tow truck drivers have a higher rate of injury and death than the police. We prioritize to ensure Barstow Towing has plenty of safety training.

What sets you apart from other towing companies?

We truly believe in excellent customer service. Every customer is called and given an estimated time of arrival (ETA) and updates if there are changes or delays. We go even further and call the majority of customers back the next day after their service. This gives us an opportunity to see how they feel our services were, make adjustments as needed, and to achieve our goal of Total Satisfaction.

We're very proud of the fact that we've only received 5-star reviews on Yelp, which I think says our efforts pay off!

What do you find most fulfilling about the business?

Because so many of our customers are in vulnerable situations on the roadside in remote areas or on freeways, I take great satisfaction in assuring them that we are here to help solve their problem quickly. When you give someone peace of mind and back it up with truth in service, that’s real satisfaction.

Danny and I also enjoy giving back to this community that has given to us. We feel that in giving, we also receive. That’s very fulfilling.

Can you tell us more about that? Where are you most passionate about giving?

We love and believe in our local community and we really believe it's important to support our town's youth in as many ways as possible so the next generation can make the community even better.

We have helped sponsor local soccer, football, baseball and basketball teams as well as the Miss Barstow Pageant contestants. We are both active members of the Kiwanis Club of Barstow Crossroads.
